Painter, Carrie Ann Baade has recently completed two new oil on panel paintings titled, “Halcyon” (below) and “Butterfly Lovers.” Both paintings are autobiographical narratives deeply rooted in allegory and further inspired by literature and historic discourse. (Above, Butterfly Lovers, 26×34″ framed, oil on panel).
At first glance, you might consider Carrie’s works as moral fables merged with fragments of religious paintings inspired by Renaissance revival of the 14th through 16th centuries. Carrie Ann Baade has recently been awarded the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Individual Artist Fellowship, the Delaware Division of the Arts Fellowship for Established Artist and nominated for the prestigious United States Artist Fellowship.
